About Scott Wiggam
Scott Wiggam is proudly serving his first term as Wayne County Clerk of Courts. In this role, Scott oversees the administration, human resources, and operations of both the Common Pleas and Municipal Court clerkships, as well as the Title Offices in Wooster and Orrville. As the “keeper of the court records,” Scott leads a dedicated team responsible for managing the county’s legal documents, ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of records ranging from felony convictions to vehicle ownership. With oversight of a multimillion-dollar budget and 34 employees, Scott is committed to providing exceptional service to Wayne County taxpayers.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Scott served four years of active duty and was honored with an Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. After his service, he and his wife, Katie (Cochran), chose Wayne County as the place to raise their three children. Scott also gained valuable experience as a small business owner, operating a restaurant with 20 employees. This firsthand understanding of the challenges facing entrepreneurs has shaped his approach to cutting government red tape and improving efficiency.
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from Asbury University and a master’s degree from the University of Akron. His career in public service began in 2004 when he was elected Wayne County Commissioner. During his three terms, Scott implemented fiscally responsible policies that averted tax increases during the 2008 housing crisis, reduced government spending, and expanded services for county residents.
Scott continued his service to Wayne County as a four-term State Representative. As Chairman of the Ohio House State and Local Government Committee, he championed lower taxes, fought against government overreach, and authored several bills that were signed into law. Notably, two of these measures improved the efficiency of Clerk of Courts operations, enhancing public service and accessibility.
As Wayne County Clerk of Courts, Scott Wiggam leverages his extensive experience in public service to advance the office’s mission of efficiency, integrity, and justice. He remains dedicated to upholding the community’s values while ensuring the highest level of service to the citizens of Wayne County.
